Coil is an iPhone app that analyzes your golf swing. It is published by CRESCADE. This policy explains what Coil does with your information. The short version: your videos and swing results stay on your iPhone.
What stays on your iPhone
- Swing videos. Videos you film in Coil, or pick from your Photos library, are copied into Coil's private storage on your iPhone. They are never uploaded.
- Swing analysis. Body tracking and scoring run entirely on your iPhone using Apple's on-device Vision framework. Coil doesn't send your video or body positions to any server.
- Your journal. Reports, notes, practice sessions, goals, your handedness and other settings are stored only on your iPhone.
- Ask Coach. On iPhones with Apple Intelligence, Coach answers using Apple's on-device model. Your questions and answers stay on your iPhone.
Coil has no account and no cloud sync. If you delete the app, this data is deleted with it. You can also erase everything at any time in Settings → Erase everything.
Camera and Photos
Coil asks for camera access to film your swing and for the live posture check, and for access to Photos only when you choose a video. Coil uses these only for the purposes you start. Live camera frames are analyzed on your iPhone and are not saved unless you record a swing.
Videos from YouTube
Some lessons show coaching videos hosted on YouTube. When you open one, it plays in YouTube's embedded player, using YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). Video thumbnails load from YouTube's image servers. When you play or view these, YouTube (Google) receives the usual information any website or embed receives, such as your IP address, under Google's Privacy Policy. Coil doesn't send YouTube any of your swing data.
Usage statistics
Usage statistics are on by default. Coil sends anonymous usage events, such as "a swing was analyzed" or "a lesson was opened", together with diagnostics and crash information, to PostHog, an analytics service (servers in the USA). These events contain no videos, photos, notes, names, email addresses or swing measurements. They are tied to a random device identifier, not to you, and are not used for tracking across apps or for advertising. You can turn this off at any time in Settings. Coil uses no advertising identifiers and does not track you across other apps or websites. In the EU, the EEA and the UK, the app asks for your consent on first launch and sends no usage statistics unless you agree.
Purchases
Coil Pro is sold through Apple's App Store. Payments are handled by Apple; Coil never sees your payment details. Coil uses RevenueCat to check whether your subscription is active. RevenueCat receives a random app user identifier and your App Store purchase receipts, not your name or email.
Children
Coil is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.
