Curlette ("the app") is a personal hair-care journal published by CRESCADE LLC ("we"). This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the app.
The short version
- Your journal stays on your device. There is no Curlette account and no cloud sync.
- We never see your entries, products, notes or photos.
- Anonymous usage statistics are on by default; you can turn them off in Settings.
Information stored on your device
Everything you enter — your hair description and goals, products, routines, wash-day logs, check-in ratings, notes and photos — is stored only in the app's private storage on your iPhone or iPad. Photos you attach are saved as unchanged copies inside the app; the app does not read your photo library beyond the pictures you pick.
This data is included in your device's own iCloud/computer backups according to your iOS settings. Deleting the app, or using Settings → Delete all data in the app, removes it from the device.
Camera and photos
The app asks for camera access only when you choose to take a photo. Photos you pick or take are used only to show them in your journal. Photos are never uploaded, analysed or used to classify your hair.
Exports and backups you create
You can export a PDF report, a CSV file or a full backup (ZIP). These files are created only when you ask and are shared only where you send them. A backup contains your personal entries and photos and is not password-protected — keep it somewhere safe.
Anonymous usage statistics
Share anonymous usage events is on by default. The app sends anonymous product-interaction events (for example "a wash log was finished" or "an export was created"), a device identifier, and diagnostics and crash information to PostHog, our analytics provider (servers in the USA), so we can understand which features are used. These events: In the EU, the EEA and the UK, the app asks for your consent on first launch and sends no usage statistics unless you agree.
- contain no names, notes, product names, photos, ratings or other journal content;
- are not linked to your identity and are not used for advertising or tracking across apps;
- stop immediately when you turn the setting off in Settings.
Purchases
If paid features are offered in the future, purchases are processed by Apple. We may use RevenueCat to confirm a purchase with an anonymous identifier; we never receive your payment details.
Children
Curlette is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes and contact
We will update this page if the app's data practices change. Questions: contact us through https://crescade.com/apps/curlnotes.
