Check your llms.txt, or draft one in a minute
llms.txt is a short plain-text map of your site for AI assistants. We check yours against the format, or build a draft from your homepage links if you do not have one.
Free · a few seconds · no signup · we only read public pages
Secure verification will run before submission.
What it checks
- Whether /llms.txt exists and is served as text, not as a web page
- The required title line and the one-paragraph summary under it
- Sections, links and whether each link says what is on the page
- A draft built from your real page names and links, with nothing invented
We read public pages only, the same way a crawler does, and we do not store your result.
Example output · Missing · /llms.txt returns your homepage
Your server answers /llms.txt with HTML, so assistants get a web page instead of a map.
Try: publish the draft as a plain text file at /llms.txt.
Questions
What is llms.txt?
A markdown file at yoursite.com/llms.txt, proposed at llmstxt.org. It gives AI tools a short summary of your company and links to the pages that matter, without the menus and scripts of a web page.
Do ChatGPT or Google use llms.txt?
None of the big AI search products has confirmed it uses llms.txt to rank or cite pages. It is still cheap to publish, some coding assistants and agents read it, and writing the summary line forces a clear description of what you sell.
What goes in the summary line?
What you sell, who it is for and what makes it different, in one or two sentences. Example: "Acme is invoicing software for UK freelancers. It sends invoices, chases late payments and files VAT returns." (Acme is a made-up company.)
Is the draft ready to publish?
Almost. It uses your real page names and links, and leaves a bracketed note after each link for you to describe the page in a few words. We never invent descriptions.
