Zoa is a log for one home reef aquarium: water test results, maintenance, equipment and livestock notes. It is built to work entirely on your iPhone.
What stays on your device
Everything you enter — your tank, water test values and methods, personal ranges, maintenance tasks and their history, equipment details and PDF documents, livestock notes and photos, drafts — is stored only on your device. Zoa has no account and no server copy of your records. Backups, CSV and PDF reports are created on your device and leave it only when you choose to share or save them (for example with the iOS share sheet or Files).
Photos you add are copied into the app from the photo you pick; Zoa does not get access to the rest of your photo library.
Maintenance reminders are local iOS notifications scheduled on your device. Allowing or denying notifications does not send anything to us.
Anonymous usage statistics (on by default)
Anonymous usage statistics are on by default. Zoa sends anonymous product events, a device identifier, and diagnostics and crash information to PostHog (US cloud), for example "a test was logged", "a maintenance task was completed", how many values were entered (as a range such as "1–5"), the app version and whether you have a paid plan. It never sends your test values, tank name or volume, methods, notes, task or equipment names, photos, documents, dates of your records or any record identifiers. Events are tied to a random identifier that is not linked to your identity and is reset when you turn sharing off or delete your data. We do not use these events for advertising or tracking across apps. You can turn sharing off at any time in the app's Settings; the app works the same either way. In the EU, the EEA and the UK, the app asks for your consent on first launch and sends no usage statistics unless you agree.
Purchases
If Zoa offers an in-app purchase, the purchase is processed by Apple. We use RevenueCat to confirm what you bought under a random anonymous identifier. We do not receive your name, email or payment details. While usage stats are on, that anonymous identifier may be linked to your anonymous usage events.
What we do not do
- No advertising, no tracking across other apps or websites, no data sale.
- No location, contacts, microphone or health data.
- No water-quality advice or diagnosis: ranges you see are the ones you entered.
Deleting your data
Settings → Delete All Data removes your tank and all records from the device and resets the anonymous analytics identifier. Deleting the app removes everything stored by it. Backups or reports you exported earlier stay wherever you saved them.
Children
Zoa is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.
