Truecut ("the app") helps you prepare true-to-item photos of things you sell. This policy explains what data the app handles and why.
Photos and listings stay on your device
- The originals you capture or import, cutouts, edited versions, reviews, item facts and listing text are stored only on your iPhone or iPad, inside the app.
- Cutouts, plain backgrounds, framing, review and export are done on the device. The app never posts to any marketplace.
- Photos leave the device only when you export or share them (for example with the share sheet), create a backup file, or request a generated scene (see below).
Generated scenes (optional, requires sign-in)
If you choose a generated background:
- You sign in with Apple. We receive an account identifier from Apple; we do not ask for your name or email (Apple may share a private relay address with our sign-in service, which we do not use for marketing).
- You are shown and must accept an AI processing notice first.
- For each request, the prepared photo and its cutout mask are uploaded to our private storage (Supabase, operated for CRESCADE LLC). The image provider receives only a text description of an empty background — never your photo or mask. Your item is never generated or altered; it is placed on the new background from your original photo on your device.
- We keep a record of your credits (purchases, use, refunds) and of each request's status.
- You can delete this cloud data at any time in Settings → Delete cloud account. This removes your credits, request records and uploaded request photos. Local batches on your device are not affected.
Purchases
Credits are bought through Apple's App Store. Payments are processed by Apple; we never see your payment details. Purchase confirmations are handled by RevenueCat and recorded in our credit ledger to grant your credits exactly once.
Analytics (on by default)
"Share anonymous usage stats" is on by default. The app sends anonymous usage events (for example "a photo was approved" or "an export was created"), a device identifier, and diagnostics and crash information to PostHog (servers in the USA). These events never contain photos, item details, notes, names, or file names, and are not linked to your identity or used for tracking or advertising. You can turn the setting off in Settings; turning it off stops sending and clears the anonymous identifier. In the EU, the EEA and the UK, the app asks for your consent on first launch and sends no usage statistics unless you agree.
What we do not do
No advertising, no tracking across apps or websites, no selling or sharing of personal data, no location collection. Camera access is used only to take the photos you capture.
Retention and deletion
- Device data: kept until you delete it in the app or delete the app.
- Cloud data (generated scenes only): kept until you delete your cloud account in Settings. Records of App Store transactions may be kept as required for accounting and to prevent the same purchase from being credited twice, without identifying you.
- Backups and exports you create are files you control; we cannot see or delete them.
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13.
