Empties Privacy Policy

Effective date: 2026-10-31

Empties: Makeup Tracker ("Empties", "the app") is published by CRESCADE LLC ("we"). This policy explains what the app does with information. It will be published at https://crescade.com/apps/shelflife/privacy. Support: https://crescade.com/apps/shelflife.

The short version

  • Your shelf — products, dates, uses, photos, notes, lists and pan projects — is stored only on your device.
  • There is no account and no Empties server holding your shelf.
  • Anonymous usage statistics are on by default (you can turn them off in Settings), and never include product names, notes, photos, barcodes or prices.
  • We do not sell data, show ads, or track you across other apps or websites.

Information stored on your device

Everything you enter (product names, brands, categories, dates you type from the pack, prices, barcodes as text, notes, use history, remaining-level estimates, Want/Rebuy/No-buy lists and reasons, pan projects) and photos you choose are saved in the app's private storage on your iPhone or iPad. They are included in your normal device backup (iCloud or computer) under Apple's terms. Deleting the app deletes this data from the device.

Photos and camera. Photos you pick or take are stored inside the app only. The camera is also used, if you choose, to read a barcode; the code is saved as text and is never looked up online. The app asks for permission to add images to your Photos library only if you choose "Save Image" when sharing a progress card; it never reads your library that way.

Exports and backups. Backup ZIP files, CSV files and shared lists or progress cards are created only when you ask, and go only where you send them (for example Files, Mail or Messages). These files are not encrypted; keep them somewhere private.

Reminders. If you turn on a reminder for a product, a local notification is scheduled on your device. No server is involved.

Anonymous usage statistics

Anonymous usage statistics are on by default. The app sends anonymous events — for example "a use was logged" or "a backup was exported" — with the app version, a device identifier not linked to you, your plan type (free/pro), and diagnostics and crash information. Events never contain product names, notes, photos, barcodes, prices or dates you entered. They are processed by PostHog, Inc. (servers in the USA) as our analytics provider. This information is not linked to your identity and is not used for tracking across apps or for advertising. You can turn this off at any time in Settings; turning it off stops new events and resets the random identifier. In the EU, the EEA and the UK, the app asks for your consent on first launch and sends no usage statistics unless you agree.

Purchases

If you buy Empties Pro, the purchase is handled by Apple. RevenueCat, Inc. verifies the purchase and stores an anonymous app user identifier and your subscription status so Pro can be restored. We never receive your payment details. If usage statistics are on, the anonymous analytics identifier may be attached to your purchase record to measure which features lead to upgrades.

Children

Empties is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.

Your choices

  • Export all your data at any time (Settings → Backup or CSV).
  • Delete all data in Settings, or delete the app.
  • Turn statistics off at any time.
